Spring Cleaning Tips To Keep Your Home Fresh

It’s that time of year many of us shed the winter coats, open our windows, vacuum under the sofa and wipe down the base boards. Spring is a time of renewal and what better way to begin than with a clean home!

Although the world can be a scary place at times (especially in recent weeks), we at SureFit Home Décor want to provide some guidance and tips to keeping your furniture covers, décor products and home as clean and fresh as possible.

SureFit Tip #1: All SureFit slipcovers are machine washable. We recommend washing your cover with light detergent on a low or normal wash cycle. Every cover has an individual care instruction label that you should follow. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to our customer service team for assistance.

SureFit Tip #2: Your pillow slip may be machine washable! We strive to make all our pillow slips machine washable, but there may be exceptions on the decorative and embroidered pillows. Check the specific care instructions label on the individual product or reach out to our customer service team.

SureFit Tip #3: The best way to clean your Hookless Shower Curtain is to detach the liner from the curtain and machine wash the curtain with the liner. Use only non-chlorine bleach. Finish by tumble drying the fabric curtain on your machines lowest setting for up to 5 minutes. Avoid placing in the dryer if the curtain contains vinyl. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach out to our customer service team for assistance.

SureFit Tip #4: disposable gloves are great when cleaning and disinfecting surfaces in your home. Gloves should be dedicated to cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, never to be reused. You should consult the glove manufacturer’s instructions and clean your hands immediately after gloves are removed.

SureFit Tip #5: Wear disposable gloves when handling a dirty SureFit Furniture Cover from an ill person. Launder as necessary, dispose of gloves and wash hands immediately after gloves are removed.

SureFit Tip #6: Clean from the top down. When cleaning your home, we recommend you start from the ceiling down. Doing so will force debris downward eliminating the need to re-clean your space. Vacuums with extension hoses are a great way to suck up those cobwebs and fuzz from the ceiling fan.

SureFit Tip #7: Use a HEPA Filtration vacuum. During your Spring Cleaning adventures, using a vacuum with HEPA filtration will aid in removing dirt, dust, allergens and impurities from the air. It’s okay if you don’t have a HEPA vacuum, just be aware that a HEPA vacuum is a better solution than traditional non-HIPA vacuums as it relates to allergens and impurities.

SureFit Tip #8: Don’t forget about the walls. As much as we focus on floors, furniture, bathrooms and windows – many times our walls get neglected. Remember, not all dust settles on the floor. If you have children in the home than you are already aware that dirty hands like to touch clean walls. The most simply way to wash your walls is with bucket and damp cloth. We recommend a mixture of warm water and dishwashing soap; a few drops of dishwashing soap will go a long way. Be sure to dry the wall with a towel to prevent streaking and water damage. Note that flat, stain and eggshell finishes are not as durable as semi-gloss and may rub off if you scrub too hard or use an abrasive cleaner.

SureFit Tip #9: Lint rollers aren’t just for pet owners. Go ahead and roll your dusty lampshades, your window drapes or even those throw pillows. But why stop here! Lint rollers can be used to pick up crumbs on the floor, glitter, pool table billiard cloth and even broken glass.
